Hong Kong Tours | Much more interesting than offensive rubber duck!

Love thy neighbour or in this case not, in a room with a couple of hundred cobra's and eating in Fat Angelo's

Hong Kong has rubber duck fever which begs the question - what is it with Hong Kong and daft art? we always seem to attract the nutters, I mean a 35ft inflatable rubber duck is art???

However we seem to have outdone ourselves with this one and yet no one seems to be visiting and it is much more interesting than the duck. - it is located in Statue Square next to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Central District on Hong Kong Island.

I didn't see any info on the artist (I was in a rush) but at first glance.. probably French, only the French could come up with something disturbing like this! personally I think it is brilliant. Yahoo.

No surprises here.

This was in Friday's edition of the South China Morning Post, so it's official then and confirming something I have known for a long time.

update May 23rd 2013 - it would appear that these figures were wrong, for Hong Kong the figure is around 25% and not 72% , there was a retraction in the newspaper, it does not really change my view!!

snakes alive!

snakes alive!

Back to the snake shop I came across yesterday... there is a reason the picture is a bit blurred, I got very close and the cobra's got a bit frisky (probably the sight of my face set them off!) so I took 3 steps back very quickly.

I was in awe of the old codger handling the snakes, he appeared very blase about handling these deadly critters, there was a guy in the back of the shop handling what I estimated to be a 10ft - 12ft King Cobra. nutter

Fat Angelo's in TST, Kowloon

Fat Angelo's in TST, Kowloon

At the back of the infamous Chungking Mansions and just off Mody Road is a pretty decent restaurant called Fat Angelo's.. it is in the basement of a building so it is quite large and specialises in Italian food and the like. I thought the food was excellent and the prices very reasonable. The gent's toilet was like a scene out of the Godfather.

Portions were very large and the bread rolls which they serve no matter what you order were about 5 times the size of most rolls served in restaurants, so all in all I would heartily recommend this place.

The paint jobs are a bit iffy.

I meant to post this last week but forgot... I was in Stanley and came across not a bad looking bunch of Lamborghini's except that I was not overly impressed with the paint jobs with the exception of the black one. WOW!
