My 5 favourite cars with truly terrible colour schemes in Hong Kong
This was not a difficult task much too my surprise, with around 76,000+ car images I figured it would take weeks to choose them but in the end it took around 15 minutes as all of the 5 cars shown below are imprinted on my memory for all of the wrong reasons.
Cars are expensive in Hong Kong, we have something called the FRT or First Registration Tax applicable to new car purchases which in general increases the sales price by 100 - 125% so for the really high end brands you would have thought that good taste would be paramount.
Apparently not.
My no. 1 choice for the worst colour scheme in Hong Kong on a car is easily the Bentley with the licence plate ZEUZ, I cannot see this ever being beaten, purple velvet and silver chrome, I mean for heaven’s sake!!
No. 1
Not for a second do I believe that the owner of this car is Hong Kong Chinese, it has all the hallmarks of a Mainland Chinese Billionaire owner who either has extraordinarily poor taste or the most wicked sense of humour in Hong Kong. I mean seriously, purple velvet ( I have actually felt the material when it was parked at a hotel ) and silver chrome….. truly ghastly.

This is by far the most visible and famous car in Hong Kong, the pink “Lady Penelope” Rolls Royce Phantom, owned by a rather lovely socialite whose husband has his own collection of much more muted (color wise) fancy cars.
Deborah ( and yes she is real, I have had a few 20 second conversations with her ) used to have a pink Ferrari which was small and hardly ever seen but this is the ultimate head turner and as far as Rolls Royce goes, why would they care that the colour scheme makes grown men weep? their motto is simply to do whatever the client wants, whatever the cost.
A rather serious head turner.

I spotted this at a beach in Hong Kong, Repulse Bay and my first reaction was a very rude phrase and it really stopped me cold…. it really is shockingly awful.
Once I had taken the picture I thought about who owned it and I figure a 50 | 50 chance that the owner might be a mid level gangster ( Triad ) as a lot of cars they use can be very garish….. of course it could be a mid 20’s young lady who lives in the Instagram world… pretty horrible.

I am a huge fan of the Lamborghini Aventador but not when it has this truly over the top gold wrap, I figure the owner is male, in his 30’s and in Finance who simply wants the world to know he has made a pile of money, nothing wrong with that from my perspective but a gold wrap???
Luckily these wraps can be removed overnight if and when the owner gets sick of the abuse!! this is one of those colour schemes that proves that having a lot of money does not mean you are blessed with good taste.

A recent entry and I do need to point out that this colour scheme has now been replaced by a fluorescent baby blue color see below
I mean black, grey and fluorescent green that really do not match, I guess the owner is a little eccentric and clearly likes to be noticed.
