This is my Hong Kong | Bruce Lee at the Avenue of Stars

Hong Kong is home to the rather iconic Bruce Lee statue shown in the image below.

As mentioned in a recent post the Avenue of Stars, home to the statue recently re-opened after being completely demolished and rebuilt over a time period of 3 1/2 years and I have to say they have done a pretty decent job… but….

Yeah, there is always a but, the project was handled by a private company so a lot of money was invested in the project and I love the fact that it is twice as wide as the old version which is great given the number of people who visit but on a project like this you need someone to oversee the little details and boy there are some mistakes which make you shake your head.

See below for the 3 mistakes in my humble opinion.

You have to get your angle right to avoid the large lamp posts spoiling the image!

Mistake no. 1

This is the night shot of Bruce Lee, it looks like there is a spear through his leg… because of the spacing of the lights it is all but impossible to get a decent shot of the statue, perhaps someone should have checked this, I mean how hard can it be?

Mistake no. 2

In any light the name of the star in gold lettering is very difficult to see and at night, impossible! I cannot believe they made such a dumb error, at night the light is simply not strong enough and unless you shine a light on the name, impossible to see.. duh! oh and already on a lot of the names, the gold lettering is rubbing off (after 2 months!).

Mistake no. 3

Have a look at the spider web structures in the image below, they look lovely but if you sit there and it starts raining you are going to get soaked to the skin as there there are no glass or plastic panels to protect you, it appears that they want vines to grow all over the structure which although very arty farty, it will no doubt attract bugs, wasps, bees and birds and oh, you will still get wet.

Whoever signed off on this has not really considered the practical aspects of the design.

Oh my golly gosh, the simply amazing Pagani Zonda Absolute - this is a custom made car and is rumoured to be the only one of it's kind in the world and it is in Hong Kong!... oh... and yes, this is my picture, talk about being in the right place at the right time.
