The Pak Tai Temple, Wanchai, Hong Kong Island

Mostly I hang out at the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple in Wong Tai Sin but when I am in Wanchai on Hong Kong Island I really love to visit the very moody and mysterious Pak Tai Temple just up the road from the Blue House.

I have been going there for many years now and it is never crowded and if you are a photographer you will love it!..... oh... and watch out for the Temple Cat which if you are not careful will take your leg off!!

Jacky, owner of TIA Tours in Hong Kong

Meet Jacky, Jacky is a wonderful friend and awesome Private Tour Guide and one of the most gracious individuals you could ever hope to meet.

Jacky gives up a lot of his time to take me to offbeat places in his lovely 7 seater car and is really helpful when it comes to understanding the finer points of Hong Kong Chinese Culture.

As well as doing tours in Hong Kong, he can take you to Macau and Shenzhen / Guangzhou in China and of course he has his lovely 7 seater car when offbeat places are on the agenda.

Jacky is a true gent.

Jonny and the crew at the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple

Meet Jonny, Katie, Kristy and Alex from the UK - we ended up in the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple and the symmetry was remarkable as they all stood by the statues of their Chinese Star Signs, Jonny was as pleased as punch as he is a DRAGON!

Thanks guys.

Cecil Chao and his gorgeous Rolls Royce

Cecil is a famous (or infamous) Hong Kong Billionaire with a somewhat colourful past and great taste in cars, I do love his Rolls Royce which can be seen all over Hong Kong Island on a daily basis

Hong Kong Private Tours

Sean Eav, Gigi Chao and that strange little Tesla

I have taken a lot of images of this strange little Tesla that looks a lot like a Lotus (because it is!) and it is normally driven by Sean Eav a young lady who is married to Gigi Chao, daughter of Cecil (see above) - with me so far?

Anyway, if you want to read the bizarre story of Cecil and his wayward daughter Gigi and her wife Sean just type into Google Sean Eav., fascinating.

Cheung Chau Island

I do love visiting Cheung Chau on the slow ferry from Central, sitting outside on the deck in warm sunshine with a sea breeze is just awesome.

Cheung Chau is my favourite outlying island, so much to see and do but at a slow pace and it is quite the contrast to the rest of Hong Kong, I would heartily recommend it... and if you are a foodie there is plenty of great food to try.

The Mid Levels Escalator, Hong Kong Island

Iconic is another word bandied around when it comes to the somewhat offbeat escalator or travelator as some people like to call it... it essentially goes from Queens Road Central up the hill to Conduit Road and gives you interesting glimpses into suburban Hong Kong life.

It is the world's longest escalator.

It also passes through SOHO which is a famous eating district which caters mainly to the expat community in Hong Kong.

It is something that you should do if you are on Hong Kong Island however, be warned - whenever I go on it there is always a section under repair which means walking up a bunch of steps!

Hong Kong Private Tours

The Peninsula Hotel - Afternoon Tea

I love the Peninsula Hotel and I love afternoon tea there, there is just something about the whole experience which can never be replicated in our other amazing Hotels (and I have tried them all).

Just do it as it is a one of a kind.

Hong Kong Private Tours

The Garden of Stars

Meet Bruce Lee, this is the iconic statue that was on the Avenue of the Stars which is currently under major renovation for the next 18 months or so.

The Garden of Stars is essentially next to the Kowloon Shangri La Hotel, TST, Kowloon and if you are in the area you should pop up and pay homage to Bruce Lee.

Hong Kong Private Tours

The amazing Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Company

With over 2,300 stores in Hong Kong, China and other Asian countries it is the largest jewellery company in the world today and a wonderful Hong Kong success story.

When you are in Hong Kong it is impossible to miss their presence in every shopping district in Hong Kong, simply amazing and my favourite store is the one at street level in iSquare shopping mall on Peking Road / Nathan Road in TST Kowloon... pop in and view the pure gold statues of iconic characters such as R2D2 and Mickey Mouse.

Oh my golly gosh, the simply amazing Pagani Hypercar, hand made in Italy
