The Essential Hong Kong Custom Walk | Is this the end for Tesla in Hong Kong?

The Yuen Po Bird Market with the lucky street address, an unusual weather pattern gives me a great image from my spot at the Peak, a free walking tour group in Central, an awesome Ford Mustang GT 5.0 parked near the Flower Market and a pile of cement on the pavement.

Is this the end of Tesla - yeah, click to the left and read the article in our newspaper the SCMP which I believe will slash sales of Tesla in Hong Kong overnight... in the past couple of years sales of Tesla have gone through the roof as electric cars are exempt from the First Registration Tax which applies to new cars, this can be as high as 125% of the cars value.. with immediate effect the tax now on a Tesla will be 80% of the cars value.

No pun intended but this is shocking and I am pretty certain that buyers will turn back to Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi cars which have more status and in some cases will now be cheaper. Oh my.

The no. 8 is also woven into the fabric of Hong Kong society as it simply means wealth... we have a jolly nice Bird Market at 8 Yuen Po Street in Mongkok and it just happens to have a very lucky street address!

It is not often I am at my spot at the Peak at 8am but on this morning I am glad I was, the weather was a bit odd, cloudy, hazy and scudding clouds and then it was what I call a God moment, the clouds parted and the sun shone through and this is the result.

I always call it the Peak by the way and NOT Victoria Peak

The new fad in Hong Kong, the Free Walking Tour - here are the highlights - Tour guide with a microphone and a smile and reading a prepared script, 25 people on the tour and a tour length of 2 to 3 hours and generally they say the tour is free but they expect you to tip them (so how is it free?) oh, and they say they do it out of a love of Hong Kong.... (yeah, right) the tour is absolutely brilliant for backpackers.

For a much more fulfilling experience you can have your own personal, private tour with me - all details are on this website.

Woah!! this is a rather eye catching new Ford Mustang GT 5.0 which I spotted near the Flower Market in Mongkok - what a beast! and it has the PVC wrap which is becoming all the rage here, that allows you to change the car colour on a whim.

Yes, it is a pile of cement and yes it is a famous brand of cement and yes it is about as interesting as watching paint dry (or in this case, cement)

The old but still very cool Macau Hydrofoil...... here is one passing us on the slow ferry to Cheung Chau Island.

Now this is not something you see every day, a totally empty Peak Tram (the 2 people in the image are employees of the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum so they are not paying passengers). This really is quite a rare sight, although we were going down and it was 9.30am.

As much as I like the Peak Tram it simply isn't worth an hour waiting in a line.....

This is a Mercedes Benz AMG GT S - what a car and I had a guest last week who is the proud owner of one... I just love it when people drop a large sum of money on a totally awesome car.
