I wish I owned the Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Company, but probably not Man Fook Jewellery and the somewhat addictive street waffles that are bad for fluffy people
When I visit Ned Kelly's Last Stand pub in TST, Kowloon I send the waitresses into a tizz with my drink order, I do not drink alcohol but I do like pineapple juice and coca cola in the same glass, shaken, not stirred with ice... anyway that's largely irrelevant!
I have quite a number of clients who have spent 2 + weeks in China and have no desire for another Chinese Meal as long as they live and so we head towards this place which really is a Hong Kong legend, decent pub grub, interesting surroundings, huge portions and fair value, what more could you ask for.
...oh, it has live jazz in the evening.
You cannot help but admire the Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Company, last Saturday we had a look in 6 different Chow Tai Fook stores on Nathan Road in Kowloon and around 3pm in the afternoon they all looked like this, packed to the rafters with Mainland Chinese Tourists.
It really is bizarre seeing hordes of people buying expensive gold and diamond jewellery as if they were shopping in a supermarket, around the world jewellery shop owners would probably kill for 5 clients a day!
I wish I owned this company.
A rather unfortunate name.... it is funny that 4 of the largest jewellery store chains in Hong Kong are called:-
- Chow Tai Fook Jewellery
- Luk Fook Jewellery
- Man Fook Jewellery
- King Fook Jewellery
Fook me, that's scary!
Mike Myers / Austin Powers would have a field day here.
Being a little bit fluffy myself I try in vain to stay away from these egg waffles, boy they are sooooooooooooooooooo. good
The fluffy reference I got from an American Comedian called Gabriel Iglesias, he is one of the few comedians that can reduce me to tears.. he is simply brilliant.
If you get the chance see some of his shows on You Tube.
The Maserati has one of the sweetest sounding engines of any car on the road today and I dare say more fun than a Mercedes / BMW / Audi
Located on Austin Road in TST, Kowloon and close to Chatham Road is a little bit of England (from a military point of view)... at one stage last year they used to have a couple of Mainland Chinese Soldiers guarding the entrance, they have since gone?
I bet our Chief Executive doesn't have to pay for his Cable TV!
I got off the train in Cheung Sha Wan, took the picture of the station sign and got back on the train 20 seconds later - Cheung Sha Wan is popular with Trading Companies and Buying Offices and other than that it is hard to get overly excited about the place
