A rather unique and quaint Buddhist Nunnery, beautiful gardens, beautiful statues and the sighting of a Nun is like the sighting of Bigfoot
On stormy days it can be moody and atmospheric
Not much to add in text (except what I write after the images) this is a visual treat - just visit.
Set against a backdrop of public housing estates
Beautiful grounds which are cared for with a touch of love
Immaculate and what lovely trees
Lot's of Lotus Flower ponds
Built out of cedar wood and no nails were used in the construction of the wooden buildings
Impressive eh!
During the week it is never crowded unless it is a Public Holiday
Very impressive and very expensive gold leaf statues in the Main Hall
The rather elusive Bigfoot
Lotus flowers are somewhat abundant at the Nunnery
If you are lucky dragonflies land on the dragon heads a 2 for 1 shot
...and of course it looks really, really good on a sunny day
13 images do not do the Chi Lin Nunnery justice, it is a place you simply must visit... opened in 1998 it is not old but it is very tranquil and the proverbial oasis in a mad house.
Located in Diamond Hill in Kowloon, it does require a bit of effort to get to but it is worth it, more so if you actually see one of the elusive and very private nuns.
