Hong Kong Tour | The Alaskan King Crab invades Hong Kong

Tossing coins into the mouth of the fish of prosperity, I do love a good cupcake and illegal structures in Tsuen Wan

Right place, right time!

Right place, right time!

This is a serious crab and this was one of the smaller ones this chap was checking into the "death" tank, I get the willies just thinking about 100 of them landing on the beach at Repulse Bay and terrorising people sun bathing... there is a movie script here... possible titles:-

  • The Crab and I
  • The King and I
  • The Silence of the Crabs
  • One Flew over the Crabs Nest
  • The Alaskan King Crab Diaries
  • Snow White and the Seven Crabs
  • Mutant Crab
  • Crab Story
  • The King Crab Rises
  • A Nightmare on Crab Street
  • Crab Chronicles
  • Portrait of a Killer Crab
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Crabs
  • Jurassic Park 378 - the return of the crabs
  • King Crab!
  • Zombies v King Crabs
  • Killer Claws!
  • Lord of the Rings - the return of the King Crab

You get the idea,

I am adding this post to my spiders, snakes and bugs category, actually it is just a big bug that thinks it's a spider

I was mooching about in the K11 Mall in TST, Kowloon and I was somewhat taken aback by the cupcake shop, they looked delicious and I will be returning

Nothing like a bit of coin tossing to liven up the day

This is the Fish of Prosperity at the Lifeguards Clubhouse Complex at Repulse Bay Beach - the challenge is to throw a coin into the mouth of the fish (for luck) if you look closely you can see a coin (near one of the fish whiskers) heading towards the mouth of the fish. This is FUN!

Tsuen Wan housing

Tsuen Wan housing

Our Government encourages you to snitch on your neighbours if you suspect them to have added illegal structures to their dwelling, no chance of that happening here, I bet every balcony in the whole complex is an illegal structure.

This apartment complex is located in Tsuen Wan in the NT, near to Nina Tower

Totally out of place in Tsuen Wan - this is one of our tallest and most impressive buildings and houses a Hotel that appeals to the Mainland Chinese Tourist, who if they so desire can play a spot of croquet in the park over the road. I kid you not, there is an actual grass croquet "pitch" you can book through the park authorities.

Again, the surprise of seeing a croquet pitch is as surprising as finding an alien sat on your toilet plucking it's eyebrows.

Yes, we are still in Tsuen Wan

I revisited the site of one of my favourite iconic images, the Tsuen Wan sunset, March 2011, today it was grim, tossing it down.

Thanks to "K" for giving me a reason to return here.

That would be the yellow fish in the background, the "test" of tossing a coin into it's mouth brings out the best and the worst in people and it is NOT as easy as it looks.

Handy tip no. 1 - check the wind speed

Handy tip no. 2 - use a HK$5 coin

Handy tip no. 3 - be the ball.

Handy tip no. 4 - never trust people wearing bin bags.

Mosaic

The colour version of this image is jolly nice as well. this huge (and I mean huge) tile mosaic is on display on the top floor of the Jumbo Kingdom Floating Restaurant in Aberdeen Harbour.
