My 5 absolute favourite car models in Hong Kong

I am as mentioned a few times a car fanatic, I have been since I was a kid and as such I do not limit myself to supercars and hypercars but when it comes to my favourite cars, these categories are top of the pile. I am limiting it to 5 models, there are actually closer to 50 models I love but that is just going to waste your time and it took me all of one minute to choose my 5 favourite models.

If I have not already mentioned, I have never driven a car in my life, I have lived in Hong Kong since I was 11 years old and Hong Kong has the best public transport in the world which is a lot more efficient and cost effective!! I am content to look and admire, I have sat in all of these models, some of them I have had a 400 yard ride in (that’s another story) in a nutshell, cars are a thing of beauty and let’s leave it at that.

One thing I get really excited about is engine noise, something the popular Tesla totally lacks so I simply cannot take it seriously, to me it is a battery on wheels, with 4 of these 5 cars the engine noise sends shivers down my spine and this explains the off odd man out, the Mercedes Benz AMG G63 G Wagen, it is as aerodynamic as a brick but it has this massive v8 Bi Turbo engine and it rumbles, quite magnificent!

I will have to get used to the fact that gas engines will be phased out in the future, we have hybrid sports cars now which still have the engine noise so in the near future I will continue to listen to these cars.

I think it is pretty obvious why I love these models so much and apologies to Aston Martin, Ferrari, Bugatti, Bentley, Koenigsegg and Lamborghini owners, I love these brands as well but I am limited to 5 models.

Pagani - IFI

Oh my golly gosh.

The one off Pagani Zonda Absolute, I have seen it once ( which is how I got my popular sequence of images of it ) seeing a Pagani on the road is very, very rare. I heard the car long before I actually saw it and I was lucky that traffic was backed up which allowed me to swivel ( I was looking in the wrong direction ) and start shooting, I will never forget the engine noise, it crackled, roared and spat and sounded like a jet engine.

I do not think I will ever top this car in Hong Kong, even with the new models Pagani have, this one… gosh.

I am a little old school, (as car spotters go) the thrill is to see them and hear them on the roads, in traffic and getting the picture.

…and yes, it’s a batmobile and my total respect to the owner.

… and yes, I jumped up and down with joy when I checked the images on the camera screen, the images came out great!

Mercedes Benz - ANDRU

Boy do I love Mercedes Benz and I never understand how people can mock the brand and complain that the models ( well over 50 ) are generic, bland and soulless.

This is the odd car out as explained above, it simply should not exist but trust me when you sit in one and listen to the engine rumbling, you simply fall in love with it and that powerful engine allows it to keep pace with many supercars around town and it is peerless in rough terrain out in the country.

If I ever come into a shed load of money, this would be the first car on the shopping list and I do love the white colour and I like the stock design, no need to pimp it out…. yahoo! and yes, I would need a driver and I would hang out in the back seats.

Interestingly I do have another Mercedes Benz I adore which is absolutely a wolf in the sheep’s clothing, the bi turbo AMG E 63 S… if you are a supercar owner you are very wary about being embarrassed by this awesome car.

Porsche - HOUSE

The Porsche GT3 RS, what can I say, it crackles, roars and has flames shooting from the exhaust pipes!! I am as most people know a Porsche fanatic and this car is just mean and amazingly and apparently it is fabulous to drive in city traffic.

I did a 400 yard sprint in one from the Hong Kong Country Club to Ocean Park and it was terrifying - the acceleration is amazing.

Like Mercedes I had 2 choices for the Porsche as I have always loved the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the 2020 model is amazing, in my dreams I would have both, but the GT3 RS wins because of it’s mean looks and howling engine.

… and I would have it in the powder blue colour.

McLaren - NC 619

I have sat in all the McLaren models.

This is the 720S and whilst for someone my size it is a tight fit, it is an amazing car | WOW!

enough said.

Rolls Royce - UD 9272

This is the Rolls Royce Ghost, this is NOT a standard Rolls Royce, the has been modified by WALD, the Japanese company that does amazing body kit and such modifications to all sorts of cars…. as soon as I saw this car I knew it was something very special and the paint job was simply amazing and probably cost more than a Toyota Prius…

My only complaint which is really daft is that it wafts by with barely a hint of engine noise and yet it has a monster engine, you really do get a lot of car for the money.

This is the car I would have to turn up to meetings with people I do not like and you know what I mean and I would have a stock of my favourite soda, Dr. Pepper in the small fridge in the back.

The wife would like this car as well for when she goes shoe shopping, it’s a lifestyle thing.
