I have been doing blog posts (couldn’t they have come up with a better word than blog) for many years and frankly it is not something I like doing, simply because I am not a writer or trained journalist and I actually think I do not particularly have anything interesting to say.
In today’s online or social media world you have to get your name out there so to speak and in order to rank highly on Google and other search engines you have to pump out new content all the time making sure that your post has all the requisite keywords (there are thousands of the darn things) so it ends up reading like an infomercial
… as I am not female with an enviable figure and duck lips doing an exercise routine in a skimpy outfit I can’t just post a picture of myself at a tourist attraction, I am supposed to have interesting things to say, some little nugget that makes you say “huh, I didn’t know that”, well there are hundreds of tourist attractions in Hong Kong and most have hundreds of blog posts and infomercials with all the Wikipedia information you will ever need.
… but today I am not going to do the required thing, I am going to be a little different.
How so? millions of people ask over their Fruit Loops and coffee…. well boys and girls, I am a big believer in photographs, you know that old chestnut “a picture is worth a thousand words” so you will see a rather unusual photograph which highlights, Sir Thomas Jackson’s rear end.
I have lost count of the thousands of times I have sat in Statue Square and just stared at said Gentleman who put HSBC on the World map, yesterday I decided for no particular reason (sounding like Forrest Gump) to take a photograph from the back of the statue which I do not recall having ever done before.
I was actually very surprised at what a terrific photo it was (sometimes I am overawed at my brilliance when it comes to snapping pictures), Sir Thomas is actually looking straight at our Supreme Court, the lovely old colonial building in the background and that got me thinking, 10 minutes of research later and I find out that the Statue was originally facing HSBC Headquarters over the road and they actually turned him around to face the Supreme Court! so there’s your nugget, I actually sound a little interesting for a change but my J3 Private Tours brand SEO will suffer.

If you hadn’t already guessed, I do a lot of car photography and you would also probably believe that there are a lot of people out there that like looking at pictures of cops and their vehicles, as do I.
This is one of my favourites, the classic death stare, however, the tension of the moment is made laughable by the face mask…. so scary!! made me chuckle though

This was taken a few years ago and it was absolutely not posed, it was pure luck and timing that I caught her staring at me, I was on the subway in the evening.
I often wonder if she was happy or sad but it remains to this day one of my favourite images.

Amazingly and quite often in the summer, the blue sky at Repulse Bay really is this colour…. Repulse Bay is for people with money (it even has a Ferrari showroom) and for people like me who just want to feel the wealth oozing from the place.
… and it is a jolly nice beach.

It used to be called the GIS or Government Information Service. but like bureaucrats everywhere, when they need to be seen to be doing something useful, they move to new, bigger offices, hire another 100 people, change the name and get a new logo.
Apparently the ISD has 422 employees which makes perfect sense given all the drivel they put out there on a daily basis, I have been a very vocal critic of these morons for many years.
So what is the beef with the message on the tram my good man, none actually, I am actually thrilled that for once they have done an advertising message without the need for bloody cartoon characters, for the Government this is quite restrained and the message is very simple.. well done chaps
When I show my guests Government adverts (our MTR (Subway) Stations are full of them) you can see the look of astonishment at the stupidity on display, so many times the Government idiots feel that the only way you can get a message across here is to “cartoonise” it by using childish cartoon characters, in other words they treat us like 5 year old’s, it is just plain nonsense when you are trying to get a serious message across, to show cartoon characters been dismembered by sharks (ie beware of shark attacks) is stupid.
